Olas Summer Camp

In addition to our on-going classes for Toddlers, Preschoolers, and Elementary students; Olas offers Spanish Immersion camps every summer that are designed to provide children with language instruction and experiences beyond what they typically experience during the school year.

Summer Camps 2019

During every Summer Camp at Olas, we take an imaginary trip to a country in Latin America and have an unforgettable experience discovering the cultures and traditions of that country. This year we are very excited to say that the trip we will take will be to the country with the most concentrated Spanish-speaking population in the world and one of the most diverse on the planet: MEXICO!

We will have three camps that are independent, but will complement each other and to the overall theme. Students may attend one, two, or three of the camps.

This is by far, one of the best summer camps I choose for my kids every year. We have been coming to Olas summer camp four years in a row now, each time excited for next year’s camp. All the teachers are very caring and professional with all the students and each year’s contents are even more impressive than before. It is obvious that the Olas team spends months investigating about the culture, history, and geography of each country every summer.Everyday my kids would come home very excited to share everything they learned. The play at the end of the each summer camp has always left me feeling very happy, the theater teachers really know what they are doing! I don’t undersand how they can put together such a spectacular and beautiful play in only three weeks! If you want to participate in a summer camp full of art, Latin culture, where the students can have a lot of fun with the best team of Spanish teachers, come to Olas! Like myself and a lot of other moms, we will come back again next year.”

Olas Summer Camp is the most amazing camp we have yet experienced–and we have tried a number of “Spanish camps” around Austin. This is a camp where children really do use their Spanish, learn a lot and really have fun the whole time! I only wish that every day of my child’s learning could be like this!”

Olas Spanish Camp was incredible! The teachers put together an amazing curriculum about Spain. Kids learn about Spanish writers, painters, learn how to cook traditional recipes and talked about major festivals and dances of Spain. Highlight of my day was when my son told me about the magnificent Guggenheim Museum in Spain. I would recommend the summer camp to everyone!”

I was amazed by how much Gabriella loved the camp. She looked forward to going everyday and she did not want it to end. Her willingness to speak to me in Spanish also increased. Before, I would say something to her in Spanish and she would always reply in English. Yet, after the first week in camp, she no longer resisted my speaking to her and reading to her in Spanish. On the contrary, she actually initiated conversations with me in Spanish.  The way Olas incorporated the topics to be learned throughout the camp was amazing and very creative. My daughter came home with a very clear understanding of the various regions, countries and varying cultures in South America. Everyday after picking her up from camp, she was full of information to share. Thus, I too looked forward to hearing about all the foods, animals and special cultural aspects that she learned each day.  Overall, the camp was a huge hit and we look forward to doing it again next year!”

My children had a great time at summer camp. It was fun and engaging, yet educational. I love that they experienced art, theater, cooking, music, and water games each day. They really had a great time and the teachers are exceptional! My kids asked me once it was over, if they were going to go to another camp we’ve sent them for years and when I said, “No,” they were excited. You have really set the bar high with this camp! Now, what about the rest of the summer?!”

Our kids had an amazing time at the OLAS summer camp! They were excited to go to camp every single day and came home overflowing with stories about their day and all the things they were learning about South America. The staff did an incredible job of putting together a great schedule of art projects, cooking, songs, water games, and theater. And of course since the camp is all in Spanish, it was an added bonus that their Spanish improved. OLAS was such a great camp experience!”
