Brief info
¡Hola! I am Mara Vidal, I was born and grew up in Havana, Cuba, where I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Theater from University of Art in Havana. I traveled to Mexico City to complete a Master’s Degree in Art History from Iberoamericana University.
In 2004, I moved to Austin to start my life as a Spanish teacher. For 14 years I have taught Spanish through art, theater, music, and movement, while traveling to a variety of Montessori schools, learning centers, public schools, and even particular houses in the Austin Area. During this time I received an intense training in the Montessori methodology applied to teaching Spanish to young children (1-12 years old).
One day I decided to put together all my passion and experience in teaching my language and culture to young students, and created my own program.
Olas Spanish Immersion School is a combination of the Montessori methodology and play-based teaching, in a full immersion fashion.
Our curriculum is designed to make students enjoy learning a second language according to their own age and pace, providing outstanding results. Toddlers, preschoolers and K-5th graders, absorb the magic of Spanish language and culture easily and rapidly. Every day I witness amazing results!
